Channel groups
Groups are not cosmetic. Whatever categories you set here are exactly what your player renders — so organising once here is the on-TV experience.
Written walkthrough
One long list of channels is fine. Categories are better — because your player doesn’t invent them. Whatever groups you set in EPGMaster are exactly what shows up on your TV, in that order.
Step 1 — Filter to what belongs together
In the playlist editor, type into Search channels — news, say. The table filters as you type. Tick the channels you want with the checkbox on each row, and a bar of bulk actions appears above the table.
Tick the rows individually rather than using the header select-all: the header checkbox selects every channel in the playlist, not just the ones matching your filter.
Step 2 — Move them into a new group
With rows selected, click Move to group and choose New group…. Type the name — News— and press Enter. That’s a category created and filled in one move. The rows regroup under a section header and the group appears in the sidebar with its own match and EPG counts.
Step 3 — Repeat for anything you watch as a set
Sports. Kids. Movies. Whatever the shape of your evening is. Clear the search, filter for the next set, select, Move to group. You’re describing your household’s viewing once, here, and every player you connect lays itself out that way.
Reading the result
The Allview is the one that shows your groups as section headers down the table — that’s the grouped view. The Groups pill next to it filters the table to a single selected group, which is useful when you want to work inside one category but is not the overview.
The sidebar keeps a running count per group: how many channels are matched, and how many carry EPG data. It’s the quickest way to spot a group that needs attention.
Why this matters more than it looks
Most IPTV providers ship category names that are inconsistent at best — duplicated, misspelled, or lumped into one enormous bucket. Players render those names verbatim because they have nothing else to go on. Setting your own groups is the difference between scrolling one 3,000-line list and opening Sports.
